Big enough so you don't need to keep filling it up, while controllable for typical use areas...
The only reason for dropping a star, I'm on my second one as it doesn't like the odd knock over. So keep it securely positioned.
Otherwise it's easy to keep clean and filled up. Everyone seems to like using it, so no more hands left unwashed...

This is a great product,good design, good looking and it does a great job,keeping things tidy, encouraging cleaning of hands, and probably saving money by only dispensing what you need, by custom setting the pump to deliver the amount you require. What more can I SAY IT IS VERY GOOD.

I read all the reviews here prior to purchasing this dispenser. Opinions were mixed, however, there wasn't a better option as all the other soap dispensers had terrible reviews.
A few things to look out for:
1) Yes, you need a screwdriver to open the battery compartment, but there is a rubber-ish seal that stops water getting in and I'd prefer to use a screwdriver than for it to leak. Anyway, if you don't have a screwdriver, go buy one, they are actually quite useful in life.
2) It's important to read the instructions as some people are pulling the nozzle out rather than just pulling it down slightly.
3) It does have an off switch. Some people have complained about not being able to turn it off for cleaning purposes or battery changes.
4) Ok, this is the big one and probably many of the "sensor not working" complaints. It does NOT work in sunlight. Mine is on the bathroom window sill and when the dispenser is in the shade it is perfect, but when the sunlight shines on it, the sensor no longer works. I'm going to report this to Simplehuman as that is NOT good enough. I have tested this thoroughly by walking around the house, it does it reliably every time.
5) If it is not used for a few hours, you need to put your hand under twice for it to dispense soap as the soap retracts from the nozzle.
Other than that it works quite well so far at only 3 days old.

This is one of those rare products that, when it arrives, is exactly as you'd expected - even hoped - it would be. Look at the picture, read the description and you get exactly what you'd hoped for - an then some!
The product itself is solidly built and satisfyingly weighty - especially when filled with soap. It's easy to fill up and the pump works very well; and this is one example of where it exceeds expectations. You don't just get a working, infra-red pump; you get a working, infra-red pump with 4 speeds and an off switch! Awesome! Plus, incase you were worried... there's no dribbles or drips. Bonus!!
The battery compartment is another example of the quality of this thing. The compartment lid not only has a catch, it's screwed in place - and - even when undone, it's so snug, you still need to prise it out with the screwdriver.
The infra-red beam works excellently - better than I'd hoped in fact, and overall I can fully recommend this product.
Since buying this I have gone onto buy many more Simple Human products and I'm a real fan of them now. They're all well made, well thought out, and of course all look pretty cool. Check their webiste out - it's well worth a look!
A few negatives if I'm being very picky: firstly, it takes 4 AA batteries (quite a lot) and they don't come with the unit. So think ahead and get some or you'll end up raiding you remote controls in eagerness to try out your new gizmo. Secondly, if you go to the simple human website they have this in more colours and some other models too which perhaps look even nicer.
